In March 2024, Carl and I found ourselves at a significant crossroads in life. It was a moment of introspection and contemplation about what we truly desired for our future. After our engagement, we came to realise that we both shared a longing for more than just the conventional path. We wanted a life enriched by adventure, steeped in experiences, and filled with exploration that would push us beyond our limits. The allure of the Mediterranean, with its picturesque coastlines, warm azure waters, and storied history, beckoned us.
Determined to answer that call, we made the life-changing decision to dive into the world of sailing. This wasn’t a decision taken lightly; it required a great deal of commitment as we both agreed to pursue this shared dream wholeheartedly. With several significant changes on the horizon, we set about transforming our lives.
Selling most of our belongings and renting out our cozy home in Australia was a liberating task, symbolizing our commitment to a new chapter ahead.
Leaving the comfort of the familiar was undeniably daunting and bittersweet. We were stepping into unknown territory but the prospect of embarking on a journey to sail around the world and the promise of discovering new places and cultures fueled our determination.
We efficiently condensed our lives into three suitcases, each holding not just our clothes, but also our past, memories, and the future we were ready to build. In May 2024, we set off towards Europe, our hearts brimming with anticipation.This journey was more than just about sailing from one destination to another; it was a holistic endeavor to rediscover ourselves and unlock a deeper understanding of what it truly means to live fully and authentically.
Now, as we temporarily settle in the idyllic surroundings of Corfu, awaiting construction of our new sailing catamaran in La Rochelle, we find moments to reflect on the incredible journey that has brought us to this point. Each experience adds a new layer to our story, each encounter enriches our lives. Our journey is just beginning, and with the open seas ahead of us, we’re filled with anticipation for the adventures yet to unfold.
